Tony Ramey

His Patriot Ancestor:

John Ramey – Washington County, Virginia Militia

John Ramey was born ca 1762 in Virginia.  He enlisted in Captain Henry Smith’s Company of the Washington County Militia during the war (Documented in Harman’s Annals of Tazewell County, Virginia, Vol. II, pp 205-207).  Like many men who served in local militias and did not live long enough to receive a pension, little is known about the events of his time of service.  He relocated later in life to western Kentucky and died some time after August 20, 1832.  He is buried in the Old Dry Fork Baptist Church Cemetery just inside the Lyon County line.
