World War II Veteran Honored

Col. Stephen Trigg Compatriot Jim Johnson recently made a trip to the west coast to visit his father, Bruce Demont Johnson for his 98th birthday celebration.  While there, he honored his father with the chapter’s Veterans Appreciation Medal and Certificate.

Mr. Johnson is a veteran of World War II.  During his incredible military career, he served both as an enlisted soldier and commissioned officer.  His highest enlisted rank was that of First Sergeant.  His highest commissioned rank was that of First Lieutenant.

During World War II, he led men under his command in three amphibious assaults upon Japanese-held islands.  These included the battles for Makin Atoll, Saipan, and Okinawa.

Mallory Honors Veterans

Col. Stephen Trigg President Steve Mallory recently honored two of his “in-laws” during his journey home from Valley Forge.  He and wife, Debbie, made a stop in Maryland to visit with family.  While there, Steven presented our chapter’s Veteran’s Appreciation Medal and Certificate to Melvin Howard, U.S. Army (left) and James LeFave, U.S. Air Force (r).  Both gentlemen are husbands of Debbie’s first cousins.

Veterans Honored at Annual Thomas-Bridges Association Meeting

Compatriots of the Col Stephen Trigg Chapter honored three U.S. military veterans at the annual family reunion in Cadiz.

Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter charter member James Sumner presented medals and certificates to his “cousins,” Korean War Navy Veteran Olen Ray Thomas and World War II Veteran James Arvin Cunningham.

WWII Veteran Honored

Compatriot Ron Drennan of Owensboro recently honored a World War II veteran in his community with the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter’s Veteran’s Appreciation Medal and Certificate.  James Beller served in the United States Army.

We salute Mr. Beller, an honored citizen of our “greatest generation.”

Mallory Men Honored

Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter Vice-President Steve Mallory attended the annual Mallory Family Reunion today.  He took advantage of the opportunity to honor two brave veterans.  He presented each of them with the chapter’s Veteran’s Appreciation Medal.  The father and son duo are pictured below.  On the left is C.P. Mallory, a World War II U.S. Army Veteran and his son, Brent Mallory, who also served in the U.S. Army.

Vietnam War Veteran Honored

Compatriot John Humphries has been busy seeking out and recognizing veterans throughout Caldwell County.  His latest honoree is Bob Burris, who served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War.  He presented Mr. Burris with the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter’s Veteran’s Appreciation Medal at church this past Sunday.

We salute John for his excellent efforts and Mr. Burris for his service to our nation!

Compatriots Speak at Central Presbyterian in Princeton

Caldwell County Compatriots John Humphries and Robert Ward joined forces this past Sunday to bring a presentation on the SAR to the men of Central Presbyterian in Princeton.  The men shared about their experiences in the SAR and encouraged men to join.  And while at the breakfast they took the opportunity to recognize a very special veteran: U.S. Army Veteran Lowell Murray who served in the Vietnam War.   They honored him with the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter’s “Veteran’s Appreciation Medal.”
