Col. Stephen Trigg Compatriot Elected to State Leadership

On March 12 the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter achieved an important milestone in its short history. Chapter President Geoff Baggett was sworn into a dual leadership role in the Kentucky Society at Kentucky’s annual meeting in faraway Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Rev. Baggett was elected the state Chaplain, a spiritual leadership role reserved for ordained members of the Christian ministry. He was also elected state Vice-President, placing him in the line of succession to become President of the Kentucky Society in 2018. Baggett has also been asked to serve as Chaplain of the Central District of the SAR in 2016, representing the states of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia.

Baggett stated on Saturday, “It is, indeed, an honor to be chosen to represent the finest historical lineage organization in the world as a state and district level officer. I plan to represent Trigg County and the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter with both dignity and enthusiasm. I want Kentucky to have the best state SAR in America.”

In addition to officer elections, the Kentucky SAR also presented state level awards at the recent meeting. The Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter received the President’s Award, given to the most active chapter in the commonwealth. They also received recognition for sponsoring Kentucky’s winning poster in the 2016 SAR Elementary Poster Contest. Chapter Vice-President Steve Mallory was also honored at the event. He received the coveted Meritorious Service Medal from the Kentucky Society for his work and leadership in the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter.
