Caldwell County Veteran Recognized

John Humphries of the Col. Stephen Trigg Chapter and resident of Princeton took a few moments today to recognize a very special United States Veteran with the chapter’s Veteran’s Appreciation Medal.  Today’s honoree was U.S. Army veteran Franklin O. Walker.  He rendered combat service in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Franklin O. Walker enlisted in the Army in 1952 in the infantry and went to the Republic of Korea. He moved over from the infantry to the artillery.  He served in Korea for 15 months and was in the infamous “Battle of Pork Chop Hill.” He left the service in 1955, but reenlisted in 1956. Franklin served in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967 near the DMZ in the artillery. He retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1973 from the service.

We are grateful to Mr. Walker for his service, and thankful for John Humphries’ tireless efforts to recognize the veterans of Caldwell COunty, Kentucky.
