DAR “Colonial Kids Day” in Murray

The Wendell Oury Chapter of the Kentucky Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, hosted a “Colonial Kids Day” at the Calloway County Public Library in Murray on Tuesday.  Ladies of the chapter participated in period attire as they led children from the community in activities such as quill pen writing, Colonial dance, and daily skills from the Colonial period.  Kids played period games and saw historic artifacts on display.

Chapter president Geoff Baggett participated in the afternoon session, providing period clothing for kids to play some Revolutionary War “dress-up” and pose for photos.  He also demonstrated items from Revolutionary War camp life.  The kids especially enjoyed trying to play the fife and tapping on the period drum.
