Thomas Humphries Headstone Placed

Finally!  Capt. Thomas Humphries has a grave marker in Trigg County, Kentucky.  Though his burial in the Humphries Cemetery has long been recorded in various sources, his marker was lost, most likely buried or deteriorated, at some point in the last fifty years.  Efforts to probe and locate a stone were unsuccessful.  But after a lengthy and challenging effort to coax a stone out of the Veteran’s Administration, the stone has finally been placed in its permanent location … right between his parents-in-law and his brother, Absalom.  Measurement indicates that there is another grave between Thomas and Absalom, most likely his wife, but her stone is missing, as well.

The repaired Absalom Humphries stone will be placed back in position this weekend, in plenty of time for our Grave Marking Ceremony on Saturday, June 13!
